Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make an appointment?

Call (727) 451-9223 or Contact Me to schedule an appointment.

What are your policies regarding confidentiality?

All information you provide is confidential and cannot be revealed without your permission. With a signed written release of information, I will be happy to work in conjunction with your medical treatment team. There are a few exceptions in which I am mandated by the law to breach confidentiality. This is explained thoroughly in the Resources section.

What is your cancellation policy?

If it's necessary to cancel an appointment, you must provide 24 hours notice for cancellation prior to your scheduled appointment time. You will be charged the full fee for missed or cancelled appointment unless you have provided 24 hour advance notice. All voicemails and/or emails are dated and timestamped.

Do you prescribe medication?

I do not prescribe medication. However, when appropriate, I will refer you to a prescribing provider for a medication evaluation. Additionally, I will be happy to work in conjunction with your medical treatment team.

Do you take insurance?

If you have Aetna Florida, yes! Let’s get you set up here: https://headway.co/providers/jaime-bercuson?utm_source=pem&utm_medium=direct_link&utm_campaign=72079

Otherwise, I am considered an out-of-network provider, which means that I am not contracted by insurance plans. However, many insurance plans do provide the opportunity to apply for reimbursement for therapy services received from out-of-network providers. Plans can vary widely, and you are responsible for determining what insurance benefits you receive and can obtain for reimbursement.

Although I don’t accept most insurance, I work with Mentaya, a platform that gets clients money back on their sessions by submitting out-of-network claims. If you’re not sure if you have these benefits, you can use this link to see what you can expect to get reimbursed: app.mentaya.com/checkbenefits. If you qualify, Mentaya will handle everything with insurance to make sure you get your money back. They charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year. You can sign up here: app.mentaya.com/inviteclient.

Note: Mentaya’s goal is to save you time and money. Using the platform is completely optional and as your therapist I do not benefit financially in any way from your participation.”

Here are some helpful questions to ask your insurance company:

  • I’m seeking out-of-network services with Dr. Jaime Bercuson, what are the percentage of Providers fees that are reimbursable?

  • Do you cover tele-therapy?

  • Is there a deductible?

  • How many sessions per year does my plan cover?

  • What information do I need to submit in order to receive out-of-network reimbursement?

  • What address do I send the information to?

  • Are there any time limitations regarding filing my claims?

How do I make a payment?

I only accept credit or debt cards. Outside of Aetna Florida, I am considered an out-of-network provider, and do not accept insurance plans. However, I am happy to provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Credit cards will be encrypted and kept securely through Stripe (HIPAA-Compliant) and will be charged automatically at the time of your scheduled appointment.
